Marguerite Murray, Founding Partner
Marguerite is the founding member of Samasta. Prior to establishing the boutique consulting firm, she held global positions leading sustainability within the Fortune 500 network, most recently as Head of Nature for Procurement at GSK.
While at GSK, she led the global biodiversity program, working with a range of external partners including the United Nations Environmental Program World Conservation Monitoring Center (UNEP WCMC) to develop a unified, measurable and transparent biodiversity program for over 60 operating sites in more than a dozen countries. The program included an innovative partnership with Kew Royal Botanic Gardens on a keystone project to significantly improve biodiversity and human health at GSK's largest research site in Stevenage, UK.
Marguerite has served as a pioneering partner with the Science Based Targets Network (SBTN) and the Task Force for Nature-Related Financial Disclosure (TNFD), piloting processes and tools that have been incorporated into final technical guidance. She additionally reviewed and contributed technical feedback to the Kunming- Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), which was ratified by 196 member nations at the United Nations Conference of Parties in December 2022 (COP15).
Throughout her career, Marguerite has created and led innovative programs for a diverse set of large corporates delivering measurable benefits in land use, water management, material circularity, and air quality. She holds a BS, MS and MBA across environmental science, engineering and supply chain management, and has a particular interest in driving sustainable change to enhance the strength and resilience of business.
